Thermoplastic Road Marking Solutions

Wilson and Scott began their journey specialising in thermoplastic, a material that remains one of the most effective and widely used solutions for road markings across the UK.
Our thermoplastic road marking service delivers durable, high-visibility results designed to withstand heavy traffic and harsh weather conditions.

Thanks to its long lifespan and excellent reflective properties, thermoplastic is a reliable choice for improving road safety on highways, car parks, industrial sites, and public spaces.

We use three techniques for thermoplastic:

  • Multi-marker Vehicle
  • Hand-applied
  • Thermoplastic Buggy

Read about these techniques below, please note our team will advise on the appropriate choice for your project.

Name

Thermoplastic road marking paint is a durable, heat-applied material used for long-lasting road and surface markings. Supplied as a solid powder, it’s melted to around 180–200°C and applied to the surface, where it quickly cools to form a tough, wear-resistant coating. Known for its fast curing time, high durability, and excellent adhesion, thermoplastic paint is ideal for lane lines, pedestrian crossings, symbols, and edge markings on both asphalt and concrete roads. Our trucks are geared with all the equipment to heat the paint and use it for road lining.

Multi-marker

The Multi-marker thermoplastic application is an efficient and precise method used for installing long-line road markings such as centre lines, edge lines and lane divisions.

We use specialised machinery to apply thermoplastic quickly and consistently across large surfaces, ensuring uniform thickness, strong adhesion and excellent reflectivity. This method is ideal for highways, main roads and large car parks where accuracy and durability are essential. This machinery allows us to deliver high-quality, long-lasting markings that improve traffic flow, enhance visibility and contribute to safer road networks.

Hand-applied

At Wilson & Scott, our skilled team applies thermoplastic markings by hand to ensure precise placement, strong adhesion and a clean, professional finish. This method allows us to work effectively on both small and complex layouts, delivering long-lasting markings that withstand heavy traffic and harsh weather conditions.

Thermoplastic Buggy

The buggy is a form of equiptment our operatives use for thermoplastic paint. This is used for roads, parking bays and crossings. As the buggy is pushed, lines are painted onto the surface, and a handle is used to control the paint.
